So, what is a cycleboat, anyway? Next month, St. Thomas is in for a new kind of fun. Launching in February, the territory will get it’s first human powered boat. It’s a bike, a boat and a bar, all in one!

Some may even call it a “pedal pub.” You may be familiar with the land-based version if you’ve ever visited Asheville or Savannah and seen the trolley type pub crawling through the streets with visitors alike pedaling along. Getting inspiration from such pedal taverns, the Oregon based manufacturer has taken that concept to the water.

Now, you can get your pedal on while still having your boat day! The St. Thomas cycleboat is a 31 foot custom boat with a bar in the middle surrounded by ten adjustable bicycle seats. As guests cycle at their pedal station, with drink in hand, the large wheel spinning in the back propels the boat forward. Not to worry, the boat has an engine in the event peddlers get tired and wish to take a break. The boat will carry 15 guests at a time with a Captain and a mate. The bar has two large coolers ready to hold your favorite drinks to sip along the way.

Sip on your favorite drink and listen to the best party tunes as you travel along the Charlotte Amalie harbor. Tours last 2 hours and cruise past sights like Hassel Island, Water Island, Bluebeard’s Castle and maybe even spot some turtles. It’s the ultimate way to take in St. Thomas. Get ready to Drink, Pedal, Party!
